Description
This is a small section of the Saadian Tombs, located near the Kasbah Mosque in Marrakech, Morocco. A favorite place for tourists to visit, the Saadian Tombs are filled with incredible tile work, imported Italian Carrera marble, and honeycomb muqrnas (decorative plasterwork) gilded with gold. This is the resting place of Saadian Sultan Ahmed Al Mansour Ed Dahbi, who died in 1603. The tombs were walled up in the 1600's and were neglected until they were rediscovered in 1917.
