Description

This is a sadhu, a holy man in Hinduism who has renounced worldly life. Sadhus follow a path of spiritual discipline through a life dedicated to achieving enlightenment. This is done through meditation and contemplation of Brahman. They wear simple, but very colorful, clothing, and paint their faces in traditional ways. There are a number of these sadhus living in the Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath in Kathmandu, Nepal. They pose willingly for portraits in exchange for food or money.
